David Fitzgerald
David Fitzgerald is currently a sculptor working on figurative pieces made with wood, plaster and encaustic. Eight years ago, he began working on a series of portraits of women based on photographs found on the Internet. He then did a series of boxes with collage like elements and sculpture; these began as homages to film and ended up being about loss, sadness and death. His current work focuses on the natural world, specifically sculptures of owls based on photographs. He’s shown his work at The Drawing Center, PPOW, 55 Mercer, Ars Longa Gallery, Cunningham Memorial Art Gallery, 871 Fine Arts in San Francisco, Studio Montclair and the Passaic County Arts Center.
